About me
Hello. My name is Dave Earp. I am an ordained elder in the Church of the Nazarene who is looking for a better way to respond to the lgbt community than some of what I have seen so far. This way should include mutual respect, compassion, and reconciliation. I was (am) following a call into ministry when God laid this on my heart. My ministry is pastoral, and missional, NOT adversarial.
I am a Christian, married with three children. My theology is Wesleyan/Arminian. Wesleyans are not Bible literalists but instead employ scripture, tradition, reason, and experience also known as the Wesleyan Quadrilateral. For those who are curious about my denomination’s Articles of Faith you can click here. If you are curious about how God called me into this ministry and my personal views on this click here. So .... What is the purpose of this website?
I wanted to create a website that explored how many who carry the name of Christ have entered the political sphere particularly with regard to lgbt issues, although I cover other issues as well. I also share more information on various issues in an attempt to minimize the hype from either side and understand the actual issue. This site is not about my personal political position(s). It is about looking at our ventures into politics with a particular concern about whether we are maintaining Christlikeness in the process. Spoiler alert ... we aren't doing very well ... .. see here. I raise these concerns because ... first of all ... holiness is for all of life ... and second .... because when we fail at that holiness our witness and integrity are also casualties. Or ... to put it bluntly ... our representation of Christ suffers as does our believablity.
God bless,
Dave Earp
